Unban Hullbreacher (if you don't want to have friends)
We had a lot of fun with the Final Fantasy set, but we had this episode burning a whole in our pocket the entire time. This was recorded so long ago - before we got any of the Final Fantasy stuff in our hand - that I forgot a lot of what we said at the time.
This ended up being a really fun look at some pretty gross card draw replacement effects, some of which are legal in Commander, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Enjoy!

Building random Final Fantasy Commanders in 30 minutes | Ambrosia vs. Torgal Deck%
Something we started thinking about as soon as we found out we'd be getting some MTGxFinalFantasy boosters was how we could put our own spin on the "pack opening" video. We came up with this idea of combining it our shared interest in speedruns and just a little bit of randomness, and so: Deck% was born.
The concept is pretty simple: open a booster, turn the cards face down, shuffle them, and then flip cards off the top until you find the first card that could be a Commander, no matter how viable or powerful it might seem. Then, try to put together a full Commander decklist for that card within a time limit. For this first attempt, we gave ourselves 30 minutes. It definitely didn't feel like enough time, but that could just be that we'd never tried this before and didn't approach it with enough ferocity.
We wanted to get as much Final Fantasy flavour in the decks as we could, so we also each opened 3 Play Boosters to pull from, on top of whatever else was in the Collector Booster we pulled the Commander from.
All in all, we're stoked with how this format turned out and we're excited to iterate on the idea.
Thanks again to Wizards of the Coast for sending us the array of MTGxFinalFantasy products seen in this video - we hope you enjoy what we've done with them!

We started a website!
Welcome to the Casual Compliance website! It's Gramps here and I'm going to give you the rundown on what this is all about and why we're doing it.
This all started one day when I sat on chillybin's couch and said, "hey I've got a show idea, but instead of laying it out I just have one question for you. Could we unban Karakas in commander?"
Now more than a year on, over 600,000 overall channel views, over 700 subscribers, and 22 episodes of a series that we are very proud of (and hundreds of shorts), with opportunities abound in the pipeline it's time for us to grow.
This website is now the one central point you can go to, our social media is on here, we will be posting our uploads, we will be blogging our thoughts, there's merchandise in the works, and most of all there will be more access to us than whats going on over on YouTube.
For just $2 a month you can access our Discord, talk to us and other people who are interested in discussing Commander, MTG, and all other kinds of nerdy shit (I am the biggest Star Wars fan in the world).
For $5 a month you also get to see your name in our episodes, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes content and cutting floor edits. You also get a 5% discount on products in our store (which we do plan on having some rad products).
For $10 a month you get all of the above, plus a bunch of exclusive extra things like Scryfall support, deckbuilding advice, your own exclusive area in the Discord, your name called out at the end of our show, episode retrospectives, and a 10% discount on our store. That's SO MUCH!
What's also really cool is that if you subscribe for a year you get 20% off of the cost which is a rad thing that we are allowed to do. How sick is that?
Anyway, it's one big long post to say, hey we want to do a lot of stuff, but it's even just cool you've come to our website to check it out.
Thank you!
<3 Gramps
This Final Fantasy precon will make you feel like a Blitzball player! | EDH | Casual Compliance
We were lucky enough to be sent the Counter Blitz Final Fantasy Commander deck, and we've got a very special video for you based on it: in a new occasional series we're calling Precon Precon, we'll take you through a Preconstructed Preconversation about this deck and how it works. We'll organise the cards according to how they support the deck's stated goals of "adding counters and moving them around" to give us a better perspective on how well built it is. At the end of all of that, we'll give you our thoughts on how good this deck is out of the box and what we'd do to give it a little extra gas.

Huge thanks to Wizards of the Coast for sending us these #MTGxFinalFantasy goodies!

Fastbond is 2 Fast AND 2 Furious for Commander | EDH | Casual Compliance | Episode 22
In late January 2025, we sat down to record an episode of this show. The wheel gave us Fastbond and we did a whole episode on it. Then, something went wrong with one of the cameras, and we had to scrap it. Cut to a couple months later and the wheel once more provided us with Fastbond. If you're worried that we just rehashed the same talking points as the first time around, think again. Neither of us remembered any of what we said, so check this video out for some hot, fresh takes on Fastbond and its status on the Commander banlist!

This banned board wipe might be worse than Farewell | EDH | Casual Compliance | Episode 21
It feels like we've talked a lot about board wipes recently, especially with the recent set of cards getting unbanned in Commander. Upheaval is one that has never seen play in Commander, and it seems like there might be good reason for that. We talk about what a card like Upheaval would do to a game of Commander, how it stacks up against similar (legal) board-clearing effects, and whether there's a way to fix it. Heave ho!

Jeweled Lotus deserves to stay banned | EDH | Casual Compliance | Episode 20
It feels like so long ago that Jeweled Lotus got banned, what with all the tumult and disruption that follow its ban and that of Mana Crypt, Nadu, and Dockside Extortionist. It's pretty fitting that this would be the first one to come up for us, seeing as this card was so emblematic of the Commander format as a whole. Could we really unban this card after everything that happened?

How bad could one little otter be? | Casual Compliance | Episode 19
We're pleased to resume our regularly scheduled programming with a look at another card on the Commander banlist - and this time we brought the wheel back to choose it! This time, we're talking about Lutri, the Spellchaser. One little otter, a chill little guy, a fiesty wee companion. Lutri just wants to help you copy instants and sorceries. How much trouble could Lutri really cause?
